Our Year 11 students enjoyed a 'Take your Child to Work' Day careers opportunity in October, with many students able to accompany a parent to work to find out more about the everyday activities their role entails.

Neve K joined her mum to teach a class of Year 2 children, supporting them with various activities and reading the whole class a story. She gained so much from the day.

Alex S picked up some valuable life skills when he accompanied his dad on his parcel delivery rounds. Along with using all the relevant technology, Alex learned about the importance of accuracy when reading maps and address details

Elkie B spent the day at Machin Exercise Studios in Congleton. She helped various coaches throughout the day, setting up circuits for clients. She was able to learn about muscle functions and adapting exercises to clients' personal needs.

Mayleen B spent the day as a Biochemist at Agilent Technologies, learning about Mass Spectrometry and Chromatography. She also got the opportunity to prepare solutions and analyse data.

In addition to the many students who were able to find out more about their parents' job roles, other students took part in alternative careers and core subject focused activities, in and out of school, to help them discover more about different jobs.

We received excellent feedback, not least from Astbury St Mary's school about our 'fabulous students,' Ellie G, Georgette A and Myah L:
"Each one was a credit to your school. They were punctual, polite and worked hard. They were friendly with our pupils and completed all tasks that were asked of them, asking questions if unsure. They were flexible and accommodating as required when working with adults and pupils in school."
