As we approach the final weeks of this term, I am delighted to share updates and celebrate some of the wonderful achievements and initiatives taking place at our school.

Supporting the White Ribbon Charity

This week, we are proud to highlight our ongoing support for the White Ribbon Charity, which works tirelessly to end violence against women and promote safe, respectful relationships. As a school, we are committed to fostering a culture of equality and respect and our students have been actively participating in assemblies and discussions that align with this important cause. Working alongside Congleton Town Council, our Sixth Form College students have also been part of a promotional video for the White Ribbon Charity, helping to raise awareness of key issues. Thank you to all those in our community who have supported us in raising awareness and contributing to this meaningful campaign. Together, we can make a difference.

House Competitions: The Spirit of Friendly Rivalry

Our House Competitions are now in full swing. I have been delighted to judge the Christmas card competition with the theme: ‘Courage in Kindness’ and am looking forward to the spirit of Christmas entries that will inform our programme for the Christmas service. It is also lovely to see students contributing to their houses via their attendance and attitude across school. Students are embracing every opportunity to represent their houses with enthusiasm and teamwork. It’s inspiring to see their dedication, not only to winning but also embodying the values of collaboration and resilience. The current standings are incredibly close and we look forward to seeing which house will claim victory at the end of term for the mini-cup. Keep up the fantastic effort – lots more updates to come!

Sports Teams: Local Rivals, Big Wins

Our sports teams have been performing exceptionally well this term, securing numerous victories over local rivals. From football to netball, basketball to rugby, our students have shown incredible skill, determination, and sportsmanship. Congratulations to all the players and staff who have worked so hard to achieve these results. You are a credit to our school and an inspiration to your peers. sportsmanship.

Year 11 and Year 13 Mock Exams: Hard Work in Action

Finally, I want to commend our Year 11 and Year 13 students for their hard work and focus during their mock exams. This is a critical time in their academic journey and their dedication to revision and preparation is truly commendable. Staff are providing tailored feedback and support to ensure every student can achieve their best in the months ahead. Parents and Carers, your encouragement at home plays a huge role in their success - thank you for your continued support.

Looking Ahead

We have some lovely festive events to enjoy together before the Christmas break: our Year 13 Awards Evening (18th Dec), the Christmas Fair (6th Dec), Christmas Concert (10th Dec), and our Astbury Church Service for lower school on the last day of term. Let’s continue to work together to make this a memorable and positive term for everyone in our school community.

As we approach the end of term, it would be wonderful to spread some light and kindness within our community. This weekend, I’ll be decorating my house and joining my neighbours in a festive light trail to bring a little joy to the local estate.

I’d love for us to get our CHS community involved in sharing ‘light moments’ that bring kindness to others - whether that’s a physical display, a random act of kindness or a charity donation that warms someone’s heart. Please email in your stories, ideas, or magic moments and let’s truly ‘light up CHS with kindness this Christmas.’

Thank you, as always, for your partnership and support.
