Huge congratulations to our Year 7 student, Connie C, who has returned from the ICU World Cheerleading Championships in Orlando with a fantastic silver medal!

The International Cheer Union (ICU) hosted the 2022 ICU Junior World Cheerleading Championships and 2022 ICU World Cheerleading Championships from 20th April at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex in Florida. The event was spread over three days, with an opening and closing ceremony similar to the Olympics. It is major competition in the cheerleading world; 116 countries are members of the ICU and over 50 countries competed this year. More than 10,000 athletes, representing 500 teams from all around the world gathered together to compete for the world title. Junior and adult teams and individuals performed their routines, competing in different categories for skills, styles and moves, in front of a panel of judges.

Connie is a flyer with the Team England Adaptive Abilities Team and has been training with Momentum Cheer in Stoke on Trent for the last 5 years. Cheerleading became an Olympic sport in 2016, so watch this space for further news in the future of Connie's international success!
