We are delighted to announce that the Just Bee Garden, inspired by Year 8 Annabel J's original design, will be officially opened in Congleton Park at 10:15am on Friday 15th July by Cllr David Brown - Chair of Congleton in Bloom, Glen Williams - Chair of Friends of Congleton Park and Fiona Bruce MP.
Annabel designed the garden last summer as her entry to the BBC Radio 2 and Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) Big Bee Challenge. Children were challenged to design a “bright, buzzy garden that will attract bees and other pollinating insects.” Annabel made it to the final 20 out of 13,000 entries and also gave a speech about her garden at the Congleton Town Hall to the Congleton in Bloom Society. The Society loved her design and decided to adapt it for use in Congleton Park and the rest is history! Annabel and her friends have since joined the teams at the park to plant the hundreds of plants needed for the garden.
We hope that, as 15th July is an INSET Day, as many of you as possible will be able to go along on the day to celebrate this wonderful garden and Annabel's fantastic achievement.
