National Careers Week is always an important time at Congleton High School, where the week is viewed as a key focus for raising students' awareness of the wide range of careers and routes to success on offer. This year, the week started with a visit from the North West Ambulance Service (NWAS) on Monday 5th March.

Carol Robertson and Jane Clayton from NWAS delivered a very informative and interesting presentation in the LRC regarding the role of a Paramedic, throughout history and how it is today. In addition to learning more about the role, students were also able to get some hands-on experience with a chance to learn and practise CPR techniques on a purpose-built dummy.

As International Women’s Day also fell in National Careers Week, Carol and Jane talked with younger girls to help them make the important link between their learning and their future and also encouraged the older girls to think about their next steps, focusing on careers within NWAS. Both Carol and Jane were able to give a invaluable insight into their current roles, their career paths, any barriers they may have faced in getting to where they are today and how they have dealt with them.

Many students were keen to find out more about the Ambulance Service and members of all the year groups attended.
