Following on from the confusion and worry of last week’s A Level results day, the Congleton High School team was delighted to be able to share final GCSE results and preliminary BTEC awards with students throughout the morning of 20th August in what proved to be a joyous celebration. Students collected results in school then were able to celebrate with family and friends outside thanks to the glorious sunshine.
Congleton High headteacher, Mr Barlow, commented on the occasion:
“This has been five rollercoaster months of emotion and uncertainty so it was wonderful to be able to finally greet our students today with such strong results. There was a great atmosphere in the hall, with these young people collecting grades that mean they are now able to progress on to their chosen sixth form course, college or apprenticeship , confident in the knowledge that they have secured the grades that they truly deserve.
“Our teachers have worked with these students throughout their GCSE courses and are fully aware of what each is capable of. When they were asked to produce Centre Assessed Grades (CAG), the team worked hard to ensure that each student was awarded results based on their consistent, overall performance, that truly reflect their hard work over the last two years. Staff were rigorous in their approach, working as a team to prevent any bias or discrimination and undertook the task professionally and with integrity.
“We look forward to welcoming many of these young people back to school in Year 12 in September and wish all of the year group the very best for their bright futures.”
