Fern, Isabel and Georgie Spend a Day with Bentley

As part of Bentley Motors' International Women's Day celebrations, and our own National Careers Week programme, three of our students (Georgie G Y10, Fern L Y10 and Isabel C Y12) had the opportunity to visit the company in Crewe to take part in the annual 'Girls into Bentley' day. The event was created to inspire the next generation of young women in automotive, and this year Bentley welcomed 50 students from local schools and colleges.

The day involved learning about Bentley’s history and their future goals, seeing the cars up close with a fantastic tour of the factory, and even experiencing a practical activity from manufacturing.

The students also heard from some extraordinary female role models at the company, including CHS alumna, Mel Ashun, who is currently undertaking a Degree Apprenticeship with Bentley. Mel gave a wonderful presentation on her journey so far.

The Bentley team explained what it takes for a young person interested in a STEM career to be a successful candidate for one of their early careers opportunities including apprenticeships, graduate programmes, work experience and industrial placements.
