Thank you to our Head of Performing Arts, Mrs Mackreth, for this review of the shows.

Congleton High School has hit a high note with its enchanting production of Disney's High School Musical Junior.  This production has become a crowning jewel in the CHS arts program and testament to the school's commitment to fostering creativity, teamwork, and community spirit.

The story of High School Musical Junior centres on Troy Bolton (Olly P/Lennon G) , a popular basketball star, and Gabriella Montez (Caitlyn B/Orla H), a new and academically gifted student, as they navigate the trials and triumphs of high school life. Their journey, filled with catchy tunes and dynamic dance routines, teaches valuable lessons about friendship, love, and self-discovery. Supporting characters like the ambitious Sharpay Evans (Alicia Grace M/Darcy F), her brother Ryan (Rory F/Lewis F), and their friends Chad (Jacob S), Taylor (Elizabeth G/Lola S), and Kelsi (Annabel J/Edie S) add depth and vibrancy to the plot.

What makes this production truly special is the profound impact it has had on the entire Congleton High School community. With over 150 hours of volunteer work from dedicated staff, the production has united students from various age groups, from the youngest being 11 years-old to the oldest 18 years-old, showcasing the diverse talent within the school. The commitment and passion of the teachers, has been instrumental in bringing this vision to life.

Families have been effusive in their praise. One parent shared: "The performance was absolutely stunning. The talent displayed by these young actors and singers, especially those in the lead roles, was beyond impressive." Another remarked: "I could not believe how many students you fitted on the stage, with such fantastic choreography.  They looked and sounded so professional".

The production's technical elements were nothing short of professional. The staging was meticulously designed to reflect the vibrant high school setting. The sound quality, managed by a highly skilled technical team, ensured that every musical number and line of dialogue was crystal clear, making the performance even more engaging. A huge thanks to our wonderful parents for creating such perfect costumes to enhance students' characterisation and vibrancy.

These professional-standard technical elements not only elevated the overall quality of the production but also provided students with invaluable hands-on experience in a near-professional environment. This exposure is instrumental in fostering a deeper appreciation for the arts and developing technical skills that students can carry forward into their future endeavors.

The music department deserves special recognition for their exceptional contribution, ensuring the musical elements were flawlessly executed. The collaborative efforts between the drama and music departments have elevated the productions, creating an unforgettable experience for everyone involved.

A heartfelt thank you goes out to the audience, who were exemplary in their support and enthusiasm. Their engagement and positive energy were exactly what the performers hoped for, creating an electrifying atmosphere that made each show a resounding success.
