At the beginning of term, our Post 16 students were able to learn about the many benefits of volunteering from Aoife Middlemass Volunteer Coordinator at East Cheshire NHS Trust.

Aoife showed the students a presentation then spoke of the various volunteering and employment options with in the NHS, both locally and further afield. She also highlighted the many benefits for the students of volunteering, including developing key employment skills and also building up a CV.

Three of the Year 13 students were also able to share how volunteering had helped them and told of their experiences on their summer term work placements:

  • Jack Bate, who undertook a work placement in March with AO.com at their Logistics head quarters in Crewe, which he won as part of the company's Apprenticeship Challenge.
  • Chloe Tatton undertook work placements with Astra Zeneca (which she won as part of the Astra Zeneca Challenge) and Siemens.
  • Mia Hopkins, who spent her work placement week at Franklyn Financial Management and, as a result, secured paid summer work with the company.

This visit is one of the many opportunities our students have to find out more about the many options open to them at 18+, whether they are already planning an academic or vocational pathway or are hoping to find out more information to start making those decisions.
