As part of their ASDAN qualification, a group of our Year 11 students completed ten hours of work experience in May at The Storehouse Foodbank at New Life Church.

Throughout their placement, the group dealt with members of the public, helped with external foodbank referrals from organisations and put together food parcels for people using The Storehouse.

Along with distributing donated food, the Storehouse also grows its own and the students got the opportunity to help with this too. They planted fruit and vegetables in the Foodbank’s allotment, picking up lots of useful gardening skills along the way. They also gained other valuable skills including working as a team, using their initiative, communication and dealing with members of the public.

Thank you to the Volunteer Manager and the team at The Storehouse Foodbank for giving our students such an amazing work experience opportunity.
