Following on from our Year 10 students' success in the UKBC Biology Challenge in May, a group of our Year 12 Sixth Form Biologists took part in the Intermediate Biology Olympiad in June.

UKBC encourages the study of biology at all levels by providing biology competitions for secondary school students. The Olympiad is open to students in the first year of post-16 education anywhere in the world and consists of an online one-hour multiple choice paper. Questions are set on topics students are likely to have covered at GCSE and in their first year of A level and some additional ideas are introduced that require problem solving skills and an understanding of core principles.

Students who take part in the Intermediate Biology Olympiad are encouraged to reference their participation in their further/higher education applications.

We were delighted that many of our students delivered strong results and achieved the following awards:

  • Silver (in top 15% of entrants with a score of 72.06%): Izsak dT.
  • Bronze: Scott W, Charlie S, Myles S, Joshua C.
  • Highly Commended: Jay J.
  • Commended: Benjamin D.

Well done and congratulations to all the students who took part.
